Photo Session

Emma's New York City Adventures

Welcome to our latest blog post where we're excited to share the recent photography session of Emma, a captivating Pekingese and Shih Tzu mix whose personality is as vibrant as New York City itself.

In this special session, we also had the pleasure of capturing a few moments with Paco, a playful companion Emma’s parents were dog-sitting.

Emma embodies a unique blend of elegance and playfulness, much like the character she's named after by Jane Austen. Her one-of-a-kind charm, complete with a permanent wink and a graceful tail, makes her an exceptional subject for photography. As we explored Fort Greene Park together, Emma's royal demeanor and spirited nature came to life through our lens.

Emma's life is a blend of serene relaxation and spirited adventure. She enjoys long, peaceful naps on her heated blanket as much as she loves pulling her parents toward the park with the enthusiasm of a sled dog in the Iditarod. This contrast of calm and energy is what makes Emma so captivating, and it was our focus during the photo shoot.

Her confidence is evident in every setting, approaching new situations and environments with a bold sense of self. Emma's favorite activities, like napping, "burying" bones in secret spots, and engaging in playful games of fetch (though she may not always return the ball), were all aspects we wanted to capture in our photographs.

During the shoot, I aimed to encapsulate not just Emma's physical beauty, but her unique spirit. I wanted each photo to tell a story – a story of a small dog with a big personality, living her best life in New York City.

Emma's parents were looking for images that captured her in all her moods – happy, grumpy, spunky, and everything in between. They wanted to see Emma in her element, being herself, and that's exactly what I aimed to deliver. The result was a series of portraits that not only showcase Emma's physical attributes but also her unique personality.

Photographing Emma was not just about creating beautiful images; it was about telling her story and the joy she brings to her family. As a professional pet photographer in NYC, it's my privilege to capture these moments for pet owners, creating memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.

Emma's mom cradles her lovingly, a smile lighting up her face, matched by Emma's serene expression, both radiating a sense of shared contentment and joy.

For those in NYC looking to immortalize their pet's unique charm and personality, we offer a luxurious, personalized photography experience that caters to the individuality of each pet and their family. Contact us to book a session and join the esteemed ranks of stylish pet parents who have chosen to celebrate their furry family members through our lens.

Photoshoot with Lighthouse the Siberian Husky at The Edge Park in Brooklyn

When I met up with Lighthouse I was immediately struck by his intelligence. He seemed to know exactly what it was I was asking for him to do, but as his human, Jesse, put it: he is also stubborn enough to make the choice to not do it. Lighthouse also has one of the most interesting backstories I've heard:

When Jesse was spending some time in Greenland he found out that everyone there has a team of Greenlandic Huskies because there aren't many roads and there are no highways. In fact, there seemed to be more dogs than people! While Jesse was there he became enamored with them because they are "majestic, timeless beasts with an ancient lineage", and he made the decision to get one, which is how he came to get Lighthouse. I also asked Jesse how Lighthouse got his name, because it's an unusual name for a dog. It turns out that the longest word in the Greenlandic language is nalunaarasuartaateraliornialersaaraluaranimgooruna, which translates to "lighthouse", so Jesse named him that as an ode to the origin of his interest in getting him, but also because lighthouse are signifiers of safety and guidance, as well as being positive and vital features of earthly happiness and survival. In Jesse's words, it's the perfect name. Jesse adopted Lighthouse in 2015 when he was 9 weeks old, and they've been together ever since.

Photoshoot In Central Park With Dustin The Terrier

Dustin was adopted in June 2012 from New York City Care and Animal Control. He was only days away from euthanasia and was not allowed to leave the shelter without an experienced handler taking him in. He failed tests at the shelter with dogs, people, and kids, and was obviously maltreated in his former home. However, with lots of hard work he has turned into an amazing dog.
